Sachin's 100th century awaited anxiously

Celebration time for Imran Khan

Imran Khan, the former Pakistan Captain would be celebrating the news now. What could make Imran Khan so happy in his life? Obviously the missing of the 100th ton by the Indian cricket prodigy Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin started his career at the age of 16

Sachin had already scored 99 international centuries in his distinguished career spanning over a period of 22 years till now. Sachin started his cricket career in Pakistan in 1989. That series was Kapil Dev’s last and Sachin’s first. Sachin was only 16 years old at that time.

Sachin’s blade has tormented all the bowlers

Since then, Sachin’s blade had tormented all the bowlers from all the cricket playing nations across all test centres in the world. You name a cricket ground anywhere from Lords to Adelaide, and Sachin had made his mark in that ground. The 99 international centuries include centuries scored in test cricket and one day internationals.

God answers Imran’s prayers

Everybody was waiting with eager when India toured England few months back to see Sachin completing his 100th century. Millions of fans all over the world prayed for this talented cricketer to reach that distinguished milestone, which no other cricketer had ever achieved in cricket career. Only Imran Khan would have been praying that Sachin should not achieve this milestone. God answered to the prayers of Imran and disappointed millions of fans. Sachin missed his century by just seven runs.

Sachin’s milestone was awaited anxiously

When the India-West Indies series started, everybody was sure that Sachin will have an opportunity this time to reach this record. Sachin missed it in the first two tests but fans were sure that he will reach this distinction before his home crowd at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the third test. In the third test, West Indies batted first and scored an impressive 590. In reply, Sachin was 67 not out at the end of the third day.

Again Sachin misses

Fans prayed for Sachin to complete his century on the fourth day (today) on 25th November 2011. Sachin entered the nervous nineties within half an hour of play. He was 94 not out when God again answered Imran Khan’s prayers and disappointed the fans. Yes, Sachin again missed the milestone and was out for 94. What a great disappointment for the fans.

Imran was jealous of Kapil Dev

Coming back to Imran Khan, why should he feel happy for Sachin getting out for 94? When Kapil Dev broke Richard Hadlee’s record and achieved the distinction of being the top wicket taker in the world, all the cricket players from every nation congratulated Kapil Dev. Millions of fans went ecstatic. Only Imran Khan was sad. He stated that Richard Hadlee should come out of retirement and break Kapil’s record and that then only he would be happy. Richard Hadlee was a New Zealand fast bowler who achieved the distinction of taking the highest number of wickets in test cricket before Kapil Dev broke his record. There was no chance of Richard Hadlee coming back after retirement and yet again breaking the record.

What was the gain for Imran if Richard Hadlee had come back from retirement?

But let us, for a moment, think that such a chance existed. Let us also imagine that Hadlee came back from retirement. Let us also imagine that Richard Hadlee once again broke the world record. What would have been the gain for Imran Khan or his country Pakistan if such a thing had happened? Nothing, no gains absolutely would have been there for Imran. Had Imran stated that he wanted a Pakistani bowler to break Kapil’s record, it could have been understandable. Had Imran stated that he himself wanted to come out of retirement and break Kapil’s record, it would have been appreciated as a sporting spirit. But instead of saying all these things, Imran chose to say that he wanted Richard Hadlee to come back and break Kapil’s record. This only shows the jealous nature of Imran. Imran did not want an Indian and particularly a Hindu player to achieve a distinction. At the same time, Imran was jealous of other Pakistani players and never wanted any of them to reach any milestone. That was why Imran chose the name of Richard Hadlee.

Sachin bound to succeed

Now also Imran’s prayers would have been to prevent Sachin from scoring that one hundred that will give him a distinction among the comity of cricketers. Had Sachin scored the coveted hundred at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, what would have been Imran’s reaction? Imran would have stated that Barry Richards of South Africa should come out of retirement and break Sachin’s record. But one thing is clear. God answered Imran’s prayers twice. He may not answer for the third time. Sachin is bound to score a ton in the near future and shock Imran Khan beyond words.

All the records of Sachin did not lead India to a series win in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand for the last 20 years. Individual records are not a substitute for national victory abroad.

you've tak Imran,s thought totally negatively.records are made to be broken.bradman has only 29 but this doesn't mean that tandolukar is big player than bradman.what Imran was saying is a thought of greatness.greatness need not hundred centuries.tandolukarpeople is definitely a great player so Imran wanted a great player to leave the ground with world cup in his.this would have been the victorious end of a great player.

tandolukar may get 120 centuries but he'll not be retiring with world cup in his hands.

you're just a narrow mind average person

Dear Nakamura,

I thank you for your valuable comments. Imran wants Sachin to have retired after the world cup. But did Imran himself follow this advice? Did he retire after he won the World Cup in Sydney in 1992? No. He retired only in 1994, two years later. After his retirement, the first thing he did was to admit that during Test matches, he occasionally scratched the side of the ball and lifted the seam. In one statement, Imran had taken away all the respect he earned in his career. He is no person to advice Sachin when to retire. Imran is jealous of Indian cricketers who make achievements.

Best wishes to you,
